""It is fitting that the Thomas S. Monson Center will serve as an embassy to the community, and to the world," said President Henry B. Eyring, Monson's first counselor in the LDS Church's governing First Presidency. "Just as President Monson has reached out to people from every background and walk of life, this center will draw individuals and organizations from the local and global community to engage their minds and hearts in creating ideas and programs that change lives, communities and nations for the better.""
I just watched the SLC Channel 2 news cast and they talked about this. Some guy at the dedication called Monson..."one of this nation's greatest leaders"..
Can someone educate me as to what...Monson has done as a leader?? Either with the Mormon church or ANYTHING in business.
This nation (outside of Utah) have no clue who this guy is..
This guy doesn't have much time left, he looks like death warmed over now, in this picture. I doubt we will see much of him in the coming months. I'd be surprised to see him at Conference in October much less stand and speak.
I saw an article, with accompanying photo, in yesterday's DNews about this. I was struck by his very pasty(and almost gray) complexion compared to those of other people sitting near him. As a nurse, I would have suggested to him that he get a check-up by his physician ASAP ;)

Bizarre that someone who has actually done so little in terms of policy or globally would be given this kind of recognition.
I guess they are reocgnizing him for the theocratic influence of Mormonism in Utah?
So he's the Mormons big cheeze. He's run a corporation that takes advantage of amazingly naive and obedient slaves aka members. Without really having to do much except push for corporate donations and obedience to his corporation.
I'm sure there are others who have done much more than he has. And yes, he truly looks like death warmed over.
