The article notes that "although she was not charged with a crime, she was hurt that her reputation had been harmed by the lawsuit.
In an interview for “Hotline,” Miss Cleo’s Jamaican accent remained as she broke into tears. “Those people are not the bad guys, even if they weren’t great psychics,” she said of herself and other hotline workers, who she said made between 12 and 24 cents a minute."
She lied about her ancestry, no books, I have never heard of her, sounds like the 'typical hotline psychic' to me.
If she was a true psychic ---- she would have known about the cancer.
Heck, it was pretty clear my Dad knew exactly when he would die but he never claimed to have any psychic ability. He was actually looking forward to leaving his worn out body.
"If she was a true psychic ---- she would have known about the cancer."
Yep, that was the point of my joke in my OP.
This reminds me of a funny experience I had a few years ago. Once, on a winter's morning, when it was cold and snowy, I called on one of my customers, which was a tourist gift shop in the Smoky Mountains. The shop owner rented out the back part of her building to a psychic. While I was chatting with my customer, the psychic called her to ask her if she thought that there would be enough tourist traffic that day to justify her coming in and opening up for business. My customer told her to use her best judgment blah blah blah.
When their phone conversation ended, my customer looked at me and said, "Shouldn't we be asking HER that?"
Also dying on Monday was biblical end-time prophecy writer Tim LaHaye, co-author of the "Left Behind" series, who also helped to establish the Institute for Creation Research (thereby contributing immeasurably to the dumbing of America; thanks Tim!).
LaHaye was NOT raptured, after waiting for it all these years. No doubt he was *so* disappointed.
His last words reportedly were, "Where IS that sumbitch?" (Okay, I made that part up. But those should have been his last words.)
There's a La Haye family locally who's related to dear-departed Tim. They're atheists/agnostics. And hate it when somebody asks if they're related to him. "Yes, unfortunately," is the usual reply. "We don't talk."
