I was looking at a list of the morg presidents (at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_presidents_of_The_Church_of_Jesus_Christ_of_Latter-day_Saints )...

I noticed that there have been 8 presidents in my lifetime. I'm 56. The church has been around for 186 years, so my lifetime only accounts for less than 1/3rd of it. However, there were also 8 presidents before my lifetime...yet I haven't been alive for half of the church's existence!

I thought maybe the real short-termers like Joseph Fielding Smith (just over 2 years) and Harold B. Lee (just over a year) skewed the results, but some of the old-timers were real short-timers too (Lorenzo Snow, 3 years; George Albert Smith, 5 years).

So, what -- is god killing them off because they refuse to announce god's revelation about accepting gays, or what?

Apostles are being chosen older so when they get to the top they are older.

You don't see apostles chosen at age 30 or 40 anymore.

It has been decades since you've seen an apostle resign or be placed in retirement for health issues.

You also don't see the fathers/son pairs you used to.

Lorenzo Snow actually told the 12 he prefered they skip over him but they declined.

Don't forget Howard W. Hunter -- 9 months.

It is all about keeping the money, perks and power in the family. They need the older members to run things. A young dude might fuck things up for the rest of them.

When are they going to come back and tell us about Jeebus?

I think they go in spurts in some decades and other decades one guy rules. It probably has to do with the clustering of callings and who can live into their 90s when their cluster peers didn't make it much past 80.

I figure we are going to have a spurt when the current cluster are all approaching 100.
