I am a total believer in the power of the story of the immigrant. It is the story of our nation, the source of what is great about America.

When we join together, recognizing and valuing the gifts each culture brings, nothing can stop us. That is what the Christian and Muslim communities did in North Dakota.

When we look only to others exactly like us, we become insular, angry and jealous.
