My TBM son-in-law seems to be upping the ante on FB regarding getting messages out. The fact that he has fathered three of my grandsons and that they are 12, 16 & 19 might have something to do with today's message.

The 18 year old entered the MTC in Feb. of 2015, and left a couple of days later. His mom has told me twice he was going back, but he's missed both of her projected return dates. And he has added a line to his FB profile, stating that he is crazy and all must deal with it.

The pressure placed on teens to serve missions, I've said, and will say it again, is abusive. I feel for your grandson that he believes he needs to give a reason why he left the MTC. Just leaving should be enough, all that is needed.

Did you read the cost for this? I assumed it was free, like any ARP group is. It's 100$ for the initial session, and 45$ for each additional group therapy season (1 hour 45 mins.) you can also sign up for 'Text Therapy', and get spammed with dozens of anti-masturbation and pornography messages daily for only 15$ a month!

I lived with my cousin for a couple of months one summer. He had had his struggles with the church and wasn't a particularly active mormon (I got the impression he and his wife were mostly cultural mormons- didn't really care too much for the doctrine and all that). Anyway, he told me he had had 'problems' with pornography (I think he was trying to relate to me and my problems with drugs), and he said he and his wife came to an agreeable solution; his wife told him if he ever felt the urge to look at porn, to let her know and they would have sex.

As awkward as that was to hear, I have to say that's a much more effective 'cure' than some bullshit 'Sons of Helaman' group therapy of blubbery twits. I understand that more sex isn't necessarily always a cure for a pornography 'addiction', but I got the impression it worked well for him.

I also get the impression that when mormon women hear that their husbands have been viewing pornography, they are so disgusted they don't ever want to have sex. I wonder if they understand how their rejection might be causing the problem to continue? This is just based off of stories I have read online, like the one about the women who found out her husband had a problem with pornography, and she says 'my first instinct was to immediately divorce him.' I know this is gross stereotyping, but women are more likely to read porn than men, whereas men like more visual porn.

Because it is so pleasurable, religious wags think it must be sinful. They browbeat and guilt trip young people for doing what comes naturally to them.

Humans become sexually mature around 13, but modern society tell you to wait 10 years to wed. Male sexuality peaks at 19 and slowly declines from there. It is ridiculous to tell guys to white knuckle it until marriage, and then to use missionary position as your only sexual outlet. It leads to bad marriage decisions and poor marital sex lives. Worst of all, it leads to a burden of guilt that scars your psyche just so some old white dudes can control you.
