Fascinating. My take on Smith was that he was a master of weaving narratives from various sermons and religious tracts, common to his day, into his writings. When reading passages from the Book of Mormon, or Smith's teachings, I've kind of wondered which minister, in which church, said certain things.

And, of course, as Joseph became more enamored over his power over people, his teachings began pushing limits more and more.

This backs up my position that Joseph Smith never had an original thought and simply borrowed from those people and events around him.

Line upon line, precept upon precept, Joseph cobbled together a religion by plagiarizing and story telling. The mormons are still very proud of that.
