Screw the Kentucky Derby! I'm waiting for the tapir derby.

Here is a clip from a Russian Lenfilm shoot some time ago.

They intended to convey on film the spirit and drama of military action during an ancient American civil war involving Lamanite dwarfs, tapirs and spears.

This rare snippet may be all that remains of an abortive attempt at cinematic portrayal of BoM history.

But it seems to prove Professor Tapirson is on the right track.
These powerful pigs is some kinda horse!

Not to quibble (okay, I am quibbling), but no, tapirs are not rodents. They are most closely related to horses, donkeys, zebras, and rhinoceroses.

Which brings up a question of why the BoM neglects having even one rhinoceros in its cast of characters. Seems a little thoughtless to leave them out. Or did I miss that chapter?

And the pigs in the clip are not rodents, either.

So, technically, a tapir derby would be a rat race?

Nephites and Lamanites road into battle on rats? Interesting picture!
