This says it all about how devalued Mormon women are.

The only problem with this approach is that it is demeaning to women. Because women generally like the church more than men. We see countless stories of women here who resist leaving the church with their husbands.

So you have to ask, are all these women who like church, stupid, weak, or do they actually get something from church that they want?

Personally, I disagree with feminism that claims that women are stupid and weak. I think the church gives them power, even though they may have to give up some things to get it, like most of us do.

Women give up leadership roles in exchange for complete monopoly control over a man's sexuality. In order to then get sex, a man has to fork over money. Even then he has to beg for sex, because she is in complete control.

This system leaves women free to satisfy their primary biological role of bearing and nurturing children. (Granted, many feminists don't want families, but that is not the majority of women.) And many women then get to live the rest of their life without having to go to work. My wife was doing that, having crafting parties with the sisters, while I went to a job I hated, until I asked her to get a job. Boy, was she pissed! Even though feminists say women want a career.

Anyway, the church leaders are puppets for women, beating up men constantly to avoid dirty thoughts, avoid porn, no masturbation, no sex outside marriage, no football on Sunday, etc, etc. And leaders enforce modesty rules which prevents competition from other women. And he's supposed to be a righteous priesthood holder and provide for his family.

Al without any pressure on women to provide the man sex. So, she gets money and kids, with no obligation for sex, which equals power!

Somehow the feminists forget to mention this. Kind of reminds me of the church - cherry pick the facts that support your faith.

I think it's simply that women are more prone to be led by emotion than men - who usually are led by logic and facts.

The men find the facts and they're out of there.

The women find the facts and object "But, but but....I FEEL, so I believe. "

Actually, most members of both genders base any decisions they make upon their emotions; it's just that males are better at coming up with "facts" to support those decisions.

I suspect that the reason that women cling more to religion (not just Mormonism) than men do is because they have a lot more invested in it in the first place. For a man to give up religion, especially in western societies, requires that he only have to take consideration upon how the situation will affect him. For women, on the other hand, not only do they have to move away from the religion themselves, but they also have to convince any young offspring they have that what mom and their teachers taught was wrong. It is hard enough to admit that you're wrong to yourself; but it is almost unbearable for many to admit they were wrong to others, especially their own offspring.

That's an interesting perspective. I'm currently trying to undo the brainwashing I instilled in my kids as a TBM.....and it's frustrating as hell.....but maybe I'm different.....it wasn't problematic for me to admit that I was wrong to my children....I've always told them that I'm doing my best, but I'm not perfect and can make mistakes. Maybe you have something there, though.

I disagree with the statement that women are more led by their emotions.

It is my observation that the Morg has two different approaches for brain-washing depending on gender.

Males: Reward based. Magical powers, unlimited sex and world domination (creation of planets) - His status is based on his own input. If his wife or children go bad, he can dump them for newer, better models.

Females: Punishment based: Lose family, children taken away, won't be called from grave by husband (it is up to the husband when, that is, at what point he decides to call her). All failure in the home is the woman's fault. The only rewards for a female are indirect, based on the status of her husband. Therefore, females have to insure their families are perfect or else they themselves are punished.

Studies have shown that control through fear/punishment results in the brainwashed being invested in and bound much stronger to their controllers.

The requirement to show money or some other form of advancement within one's group in return for sex is not limited to Mormonism, and it is not even limited to human behavior. Animal rights activist Jane Goodall and others have documented much of the same type of behavior among chimpanzees.

And to respond to the original post....YES YES, RESOUNDING YES! I can't tell you how invisible I felt while in the church. Undervalued, underappreciated, and Stepford-robot-conditioned. I never made the connection to Heavenly Mother being invisible = ME being invisible for eternity.....because I knew who wore the pants in my marriage ( read I knew VERY well how to manipulate my exhusband who was passively waiting for a sign from God before doing ANYthing)....and I was confident I could wear the white shiny pants in the CK too.
It was only after I left the church that I realized why I settled for manipulation.....it was because my authentic power was not allowed. Toxic toxic toxic. Well said.
