I remember very well a talk Hinckley gave in General Conference, probably in the Eighties. It was about pornography, and attacked it from a very strange angle with a possibly fictional story.

He told about a young brother, married n he temple, who felt inspired to view pornography so he could analyze the deceptions and fallacies within the videos. He liked what he saw and started to watch it more and more. Then he asked his wife to do perverted things he saw in the videos. She was shocked, and after enough of his "insensitive pleas" she divorced him. Then his life went totally downhill.

It sounds strange to me because that is what some Mormons want to do with "anti-Mormon" material, namely analyze the deceptions and fallacies within. Then they get hooked on it and leave the church. Do you think Hinckley confused pornography with church history?

He may have been referring to a guy who I think was from Provo who was certain that there were subliminal sexual imagery in every single print ad made. He was really wacky. He would do seminars or something like that warning how subversive it all was and he saw porn everywhere. Literally everywhere!

Well...... Hinckley got confused about a LOT of things...... (like believing his own BS PR that he was a PR genius and thinking that people really could not see through his absurd statements/ LIES) so much so that he occasionally inadvertently told the truth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wALvdgurB4

Then there were the times when he got so tired of all the damned LYING so much that he told the truth just for a change of pace. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wALvdgurB4

whatever Hinckley was saying/ said, whether he was speaking as MORmON PRofit or as a mere MORmON man, Hinckley ALWAYS spoke as a Real MORmON ASSpostHOLE

I think GBH truly spilled the beans about the true mission/purpose of the church in his 1999 talk.

1. People ask why we sponsor such a large and costly institution that is basically concerned with secular education.
GBH defends the expenses of church run universities and institutes.

2. Now, the next question: “Why is the Church in business?”
-Are these businesses operated for profit? Of course they are.

3. I have time to discuss one other question: “Why does the Church become involved in issues that come before the legislature and the electorate?”

-GBH rants about the war on SSA and the pending legalization of gay marriage.

There have been a few stories, usually concocted by politicians who got busted with child porn, that claimed they were "investigating" the availability of content.

Gordon BS Hinckley was such a polished liar it is hard to know if this story was real. I imagine he embellished something he heard.

Take your pick.

https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2004/10/a-tragic-evil-among-us?lang=eng

The 1988 one had this in it that I thought was weird.

"I recently spoke at the funeral of a woman whose family I have known most of my life. They have been good people, honest and capable in their respective vocations. But there has been an element largely absent from their lives. They have not been active in the Church. Such activity would have added a very important dimension to their personalities and, more importantly, to their understanding of the eternal plan of God our Eternal Father.

Their grandparents and great-grandparents were among the pioneers who laid the foundations of this work, sacrificing much in the process, and who would have given their lives for it, if need be. But somehow that great candle of faith flickered and died in this generation—and the loss has been ever so tragic."

What a guy to deign to enlighten the darkened in their dark time.

understanding death as a MORmON makes death much more tolerable.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSMqp1sU49U

and (NOT) understanding life as a MORmON makes life much much more difficult......

but most of all, stealing billions of dollars from MORmON members as a ASSpostHOLIC MORmON leader makes life much more PRofitable

IF anybody ever doubted the validity of this work (MORmONISM) they only need to see what has come to pass (CITY CREEK CENTER MALL)

Hinkley's sneering smile was creepy.

Hell's bells, HE was creepy in my book. His whole demeanor reeked of a Snakeoil Salesman, ready to sell you his bottle of black medicine that would cure you immediately of whatever ailed you.

And, Hinkley's bottle of medicine was COJOLDS......all you had to do was give l0% Plus, all of your time, and your ability to think for yourself to this organization so that Hinckley could then live with fame, fortune, and frivolity.

Certainly not TOO much to ask??????????????????

" I have discovered that no sacrifice is too great for faithful Latter-day Saints." Gordon BS Hinckley, conclusion the 155th Semiannual General Conference Oct 1985

https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1985/10/let-us-move-this-work-forward?lang=eng last line of 11th paragraph

Sometimes Hinckley tells the truth.

What ever you have, LDS Inc is poised to take it, including your life, one day a time. Never underestimate the avarice of the MORmON criminal enterprise. There is no TOO much when it comes to how much THE (MORmON) church is willing to take.

Sort of a sneering tone at times, but the fake smile was definitely a smirk. He knew he had you in his power!

And so many Mormons thought he was just so slick, so clever, so persuasive. And that great sense of humor! Many of his cruelest remarks were sent out uncensored and uncorrelated because everyone figured they must be funny.

Okay, are there any of the Salamander's talks that aren't weird? I do remember the basic premise of the story, although I can't remember who said it.

When it was delivered I might have swallowed it up as truth. Now, I reflect over it and think this is made up shit. The GAs all have these stories where everything fits perfectly for their messages.

One does have to wonder what Gordo meant by perverted. The Boner.

These obsessions remind me of shell games. Look over here, so you won't see what we're doing HERE!

Porn is hardly a threat to the world. The number of times I had to sit through talks that it was, made me think of what they are trying to hide by making THAT the issue.

Like, taking our money? Doing what they want with it? Pressuring kids to give up 2 years of their lives? Pressuring women to have child after child regardless of their ability to support them?

Distractions from real issues.
