I got my letter today. Didn't even take a week!

Just in case there are any other trans people thinking of quitting; if you are listed under an old name of the wrong gender they will misgender you in the letter. Even if you explicitly ask them not to. I ordered them to address me as Brother X, but as you can guess, that didn't happen.

Still glad to be out. Even happier that I didn't have to have a talk with a bishop. Lesson learned: if you want a quick, easy removal, do it while everyone else is doing it. They won't have time to harass you.

I've formally been resigned a couple of weeks now, and it feels nice to know that not only am I not a Mormon in my heart, which I haven't been for a few decades, but I'm not a Mormon in any way, shape or form.

Amen to that. I couldn't sleep with my old name on their books.

Congratulations, and now, do not let them in the door anymore. I do expect the missionaries in some areas finding names of ex-members after some time and contact us to find out if we would reconsider

Nothing replaces that feeling of being out of the mormon crutch.

I'm thinking that maybe Bishops aren't happy having to contact people to be yelled at about things like gay exclusion. What are they going to do, excommunicate people for accepting equal rights and fairness?

Anyway, good for you. It's nice to honestly say NO when people ask if you are Mormon instead of having to explain.
