Mormon women are posting on Facebook about an article on how Utah leads the nation in boob jobs. Utah also leads the nation in on-line porn and depression pills. The posts are suggesting the culture of Mormonism with their need to be perfect, better than your neighbors while looking and acting certain ways is fueling the boob job industry in Utah. Getting a tattoo is bad but a boob job is ok. Could it be the Mormon way of life is responsible for fake boobs, men with porn addictions, depression and let's not forget Utah leads the nation in bankruptcies and pyramid schemes also.

Boob jobs, porn and prozac.

Well, there are studies that suggest men judge everyday women more harshly after watching watching porn and looking at supermodels (who don't even look like that in real life) so you may be on to something.

The boob jobs are because of the women trying to get their hubbies away from the porn. When it doesn't work, they turn to Prozac.

Very to the point...

But women also judge themselves and each other harshly because of what they see in fashion and celebrity magazines.

It's an issue with several facets. If you haven't, I suggest watching Killing Us Softy 4. Advertising is insidiously detrimental to self image and esteem.

A quick internet search will show that Utah "leads" in neither category. But just to indulge, there would be a correlation. Utah once again, in-spite of their efforts to be peculiar, shows that they are exactly the same as every other state that tends to have a less secular populace.

I'm not saying that Utah doesn't strive to "lead". I'm just saying that they aren't successful. I think that the major take away from this kind of demographic data is that there are a number of items that Utah seems to be close to the top in that are contrary to the stated beliefs of the predominant religion. However if you look at other states that "lead" in those same areas I think you will find the same level of "hypocrisy". I don't think it is a Mormon thing I think it is an over reaching, out dated moral code that stigmatizes specific behaviors to the point of encouraging them. But then I'm just guessing.

I've lived here in "Silicon Valley" for over forty years. Every once in a while a visitor mistakenly pronounces it as "SILICONE Valley". I smile and say: "this is Silicon Valley. Silicone Valley is in L.A."!

Boobs are status symbols for Women.

After repopulating the planet with babies, their boobs become an embarrassment.

Boob Jobs are all about self esteem and Social Status.

Peer pressure must be awful in Utah.

They certainly lead the nation in boobs.
