I'm finding that when I find ex mo specific humor it helps a lot to point out the obvious weird sh*t this cult believes and practices.

There are a couple of good ex mo Facebook groups that have some good humorous stuff on them.

Anybody else find that humor helps break the emotional log jam and speed recovery?

Resources, anybody?

So love your site, cricket. Many hours of loud laughter & evil speaking & etc. keep up the good work.

Nothing funny here. Mormonism is serious stuff.

The mysterious "they" always said, "Laughter is the best medicine," and they were right.

There's a funny side to almost everything and when you find it, it means you've already sorted out the not so funny side.

A couple of good stand-up comics who are ex-mormon, ideally at least one woman and one man, would be great. There have been many comics who were raised Catholic and have really shined a light on the strange but true parts of being brought up in that church.

So who will it be? Anyone on the horizon?

It's tremendously important. Humor takes the power and fear out of LDS leaders. Humor disarms TSCC of these weapons, and empowers people to take power over their own lives.

TBM's almost look at the lampooning of their leaders or Mormon cult-ure as hate speech, and try to equate you with a Missouri mob destined for hell. But some of the overly sensitive TBM comments on the salamander society website become objects of humor in their own right.

I think the important distinction of our mocking of Mormonism and bigotry is that we are not speaking from a position of ignorance.

Humor shines a bright glaring light on all the dark places.

How about humor as an aid to living?

One of my major "discoveries" when leaving the church was that it's not just "ok" to make fun of supposedly sacred things, it's downright useful. And that if we can't laugh at our own foibles, mistakes, shortcomings, etc. then we're being dour old farts with no joy in living. :)
