The god/idol of Mormonism is obviously money. Joseph Smith was likely an atheist or if he wasn't he definitely lived his life like he had zero fear of any deity. Joe worshiped money and sex and the money worship is still the core of the belief system. One of the ironies of the belief system is that Satan is portrayed as being concerned with money above all else and then the focus of the "faith" is on tithes and offerings above all else.

He didn't fear God because he thought he was God. I do think you're right that sex and money was what JS was all about. I also do think in all seriousness he may have believed in God and thought he spoke in God's behalf. I really think JS was delusional and narcissistic.

I am so glad I left the church and paid tithing to my 401k. Now that I am retired my wife and I are able to have a good time. If we were still in the church, not so much. The church will milk you for all they can get.
