Were Matt Stone or Trey Parker ever Mormon?

I see the BOM musical played in SLC recently.

I have to wonder why they chose LDS Inc. they seem overly interested.

I heard they knew some Mormon kids growing up in Colorado, and thought it was absurd, like Scientology. One of them has a Jewish background.

I saw an interview with them and josh gad. They said they wrote it to make a lot of money. They may have other reasons as well of course.

No, they were never Mormon themselves, though they were exposed to a lot of TBMs growing up.

Mormonism has been a recurring theme in their work from early on. Watch "Cannibal! The Musical" for a pre South Park example.

I think at least of them dated a mormon and grew up in a town in colorado with a lot of mormons

I wish more people in the entertainment industry would have the fetish of exposing Mormonism to the world as much as these guys do.

One would think that the fact that Mormons are a peculiar people would be comedic gold.

They grew up in Littleton, CO which has a sizable population of Mormons.

Sizable for a city outside of the corridor, yes.

Sizable as in a majority or anywhere close to one, no.

But more importantly, a SIZABLE portion of the rfm community comes from Littleton.

Well, me and this other guy from our ward when I was a kid, so 2.
