For personal reasons, it's past time that I resign from the LDS church. Does anyone have the link to the resignation letter format? I've seen it posted here a couple of times but I can't seem to find it in search.

congrats. if you are like me, I knew I had to resign...but when they threw their guilt/fear at me, it was harder than I expected.

Like most challenges, it's better on the other side.

Good luck!

Address listed for Salt Lake Membership was okay in 2012.
BUT ...
New address in June 2015 for sending resignation letter discussed on this thread > http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,1597381

and confirmed by three people including R Packham.

http://packham.n4m.org/leaving.htm

He includes info to call church membership office to locate present bishop address to send letter locally as well as news address to Salt Lake.
Also that persons overseas can fax their copy of resignation letter.

Fax? Just send them an email. Fun fact: the fax patent dates back to the US Civil War time. It's older than the telephone.

If you snail mail, I think you can ignore the certified mail with receipt stuff, unless you are on the verge of being excommunicated, and you want proof of the exact time they got your resignation. Otherwise, a first class letter or an email works just fine. If you find out they lost it (happens now and then) just send it again.

Thanks folks-I'm trusting good old snail mail. Sent to both addresses just to be sure. We'll see how it goes. :-)

Next time you resign, use schnell-mail. It's much faster.

Thank you for the congrats. I was baptised nine years ago and i must be honest, i have been thinking about this for years but always felt too guilty. In total the church cost me a lot of money because of one of its members, but i am rid of him and gladly pay of the debts. I still dearly love/like a few people in my old ward and my experience was not all that bad. But i am too independent i guess, and completely against the stance the church takes on same sex attraction. I love my friends too much to still stay in church, and if i ever end up in heaven i will glady defend my choices in life.
