"The church will ask missionaries in those areas to pay for their iPads, which will be their property during and after their missions, at a cost of $400 apiece."
http://www.ksl.com/?nid=1284&sid=30563256

"Missionaries will be asked to buy their own "pre-configured iPad minis", which they will be allowed to use after their missions, much like they purchase and use their own bicycles - though the church will offer assistance to those who can pay for the $400 devices.

The pre-configured iPad mini will include a number of apps related to the work of missionaries, including an app called Area Book Planner, which replaces current printed resrouces.

There is also an app called The Gospel Library which includes scriptures, manuals, magazines and other teaching resources.

"And we know in many parts of the world, the traditional forms of proselyting work very, very well," said Elder Evans. "In some other places where technology and urban life has developed in such a way that missionaries have a harder time contacting people, we hope that these tools become even more valuable in those places."

The church previously only allowed missionaries to use the internet to email immediate family members, though those rules were relazed somewhat in 2013 allowing them to send emails to friends, priesthood leaders and new converts."

Apparently, giving them iPads inoculates them from going hog wild on porn binges and anti-Mormon researching when they get home.

Not to mention how "Preach My Gospel" chapter 8 specifically will triple their income when they get home...

I wonder if next they will promise these young people attractive spouse if they are exactly obedient?

Speaking of helping missionaries...

This mature young man would like to help some missionaries he was with in the MTC. He wants to "pummel" some of them before he dies. Good goal making!

His photos prove it! Mens G's are at least 6" if not more, shorter than the womens are. I never could have worn shorts that short.

If the women's G's were as short as the mens, they wouldn't be wearing skirts that are almost to their ankles. Do you see ANY sister mishey's wearing shorts???? Nevermind shorts that are above their knees.

The women in the church are being buried in swaddling cloth, and they don't realize it. The priesthood be damned! Let the ladies wear shorts for crying out loud.

I doubt that he's wearing any with those shorts.

So the missionaries get to keep the iPads that they buy? That's mighty generous of the cult leaders!

LDS really ought to hire a PR person who's not had any Kool-Aid® so he ('she' might be safer, as the words of mere wimmin aren't binding) can filter out this kind of cultish stupidity before speaking to the press.

My question is who fixes whatever has been blocked or otherwise removed? Do you take it to Apple and pay to have the operating system wiped and reinstalled? Who wants to have an Ipad with all the Morg preinstalled spywear?

I bet the majority of returning missionaries do the reset on these iPads. I would. I wouldn't want all that missionary junk on it. Funny that they are requiring more high ticket items. They require purchasing bikes, now iPads, what about gas and cars? Will that be a requirement?

If parents try to write off on their taxes this $400.00 and they get audited they will get in trouble.

I'm wondering about all those elders that will drop their toys and break them. It's going to cost a fortune. They should all just have $20 flip phones if you ask me? I would have been delighted to have one when I was a mishie. Travelling 40 miles up a dirt road to find that we'd been dogged. That sucked!

Knock, knock.

Hello, oh Mormons! No thanks, not interested.

But wait! We have iPad minis!

Well in that case, come on in!
