Uninhibited by any sense of responsibility to historical, individual, corporate or intellectual honesty, the LDS Cult creates its own trail--as deemed necessary in both the moment and in pursuit of long-term strategy--and then proceeds to cover its tracks in an ongoing, conscious, deliberate and designed exercise in amorality, employing tactics of denial and deceit intended to mislead the outside world and manipulate the inside flock.

Success in accomplishing that never-ending task reguires a cooperative, unwary and uninformed media, combined with a pliant, submissive and ignorant membership--the latter thoroughly propagandized to unhesitatingly and unquestioningly accept, believe and obey orders from the heights of its hierarchal pyramid-designed Cult of Personality, which operates with no accountability at the top to the minions at the bottom. This, of course, is combined with relentless, guilt-creating advertising pressure to purchase and absorb its incessantly-promoted indoctrinational materials which specialize in rewriting history and reworking facts)-and to do so after first having paid your tithing.

Otherwise, the whole thing is a wonderful, exuberant exercise in robotic free agency.

A nice, succinct summary of how it works.

Free agency just seems to me to really be free to choose to be ignorant. Then to be happy in your ignorance.

The glory of God is intelligence. That's what I believed growing up. Now it seems the glory of god is ignorance.

Intelligent ignorance. It's not an oxymoron.

It has evolved into a disinformation machine.

Im watching this very thing happen with a Mormon right now. Their inability to see beyond the "living prophets and apostles" is stunning. And Sad.

Steve,

As usual, you've pretty much hit the nail squarely on the head.

Which makes it a truly evil machine.

Other than that, it's so warm and fuzzy, like an electric blanket, turned up to the "boil" setting.

I was thinking the same thing on "shodanrob"'s post http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,1575628

How the corporation has manipulated #s when they asked all of the members to buy and attend the movie "Meet the Mormons"; only to find out that the theater showings were often empty seats because some wealthy stake pres went and bought out an entire theatre just to drive the numbers. Or when they report that there are 85K missionaries, yet only 70K convert baptisms??? So some of those missionaries will have no baptisms? Then we discover that they're counting all of the service/senior missionaries who are doing genealogy, bookkeeping, CES functions (Jobs that were once paid positions are now Missionary assignments).

Or how they have driven wards/stakes to fudge or increase attendance #s so that they don't close and get absorbed into some other ward/stake.

The church will provide the best "looking" number that will show prettier. Example: When they told of giving $100,000 to protect children from abuse; yet if they would of shown it as a percentage of their charity donations received, they would shown it as only .005%.

Did your Grandfather Benson have any doubts about the LDS church?

You had to know him better than anyone, as his descendant. Did he know what he was doing in his position of authority? Or was he sincerely deluded?

They seem so sweet and benign, the Quorum of the Twelve, and the presidency. Like they wouldn't hurt a fly, let alone deceive the minions.

I'm just curious if they really are complicit as in a conspiratorial sense. Or are they all sincere, devout and obedient to the teachings they grew up with - because say they didn't have the same critical thinking skills you have or others who've left?
