Drove into my neighborhood and immediately saw a pair of missionaries at talking to a man on his porch. Turned the corner and found two more missionaries tracting, not 50 yards from the other pair. Then I turned onto my street and there was a set of 3 missionaries tracting. All of these guys were within rock throwing distance from each other. Must've been a blitz to see how many people they could annoy in one night. They did not make it to my door, though, sorry to say.

Hastening the work! Or more likely, burning out the neighborhood very quickly.

...yeah, now your neighborhood can really be called "The Burnt Over District."

Yes, the New York Burnt Over District has clearly become the United States. I really don't see much future growth here. I recently read that the majority of church members exist outside of the US where most growth (if there really is any) is occurring.

So much for Joseph Smith's repeated "thus saith the Lord" commandments requiring the elect to gather to Zion. It's the major theme of the Book of Mormon, but, of course, nobody reads that book anymore.

Oh this annoys me right today. Not only that they rang other people off their Sunday, disturbing family time, dinners just to annoy and nag a whole neighborhood. No these obnoxious kids also showed up on our doorstep this evening around 7:30. BF was away for getting some food. I know they had Wardmissionmeeting today and thats why they came over. But we told them a few days ago that they shouldn't show up anymore. Until I invite them again. That means maybe after I gave birth and it becomes a little routine with the baby.
It's simply too much for me now and will be too much for the next whatevers.
I thought they understood it, at least the girl, and then showing up with 4. Including the ADS Elder who has Ants in the pants all the time and his retarded companion.
I was soooooo upset. After I rolled my big bump to the door and saw this 4 smiling turds I just said: I said No for obvious reasons even you should understand that! and slammed the door. Rolled back to the couch and soon my mobile went off. They textbombed me how sorry they are and if there is anything they could do for us. I replied: yes leave us alone until you are invited to visit us again. - Ok anything else where we can help you with? Cleaning? Shopping?
what the heck is wrong in their synapses that they can't understand a simple No? I mean thats not that difficult unless you are totally retarded and without any education, socialisation and manners.
Sorry for the vent, but now I feel better. :)

Good point. I should have mentioned that this was dinner time.

MTC 101, tract when the families are most likely to be in and together. Dinner time.

Elders and Sisters are forbidden to enter other's area or to leave their area.

When I was on my mission, we used to hate to see J.W.'s because they would stop in neighborhood with a van of J.W.s and wipe it out. This would make the area "untractable" for about 6 months; since it would drive people crazy if we showed up just after they had been tracted by J.W.s. Also they often would get us confused with the J.W.s if they had tracted out an area just a week or so before and we would get yelled at. It's funny now, but very irritating back then.

I read a mishie blog where they called this 'blitzing' an area.

It's a district or zone effort and then any 'potentials' they find belong to the elders who serve the area.

It's ghawd's will, you know...

Wow! This has to be one of the "stupidest" selling/sales ideas I've ever heard of.

Southpark episode, "Dummmm Dummm, Dummmm,"!!!!

When it comes to "stupidest ideas", do they ever have any other kind?

But you have to admit, they are "inspired."

In Texas in the early sixties, major cities such as Austin and Corpus Christi only had one set of missionaries. San Antonio, a larger city, had two pair. Of course, back then we only had one seventh as many missionaries in total (12,000 vs 85,000).

If every thing were equal, today Corpus Christi (which I and my partner covered alone) would have a total of fourteen missionaries not counting those in the separate Spanish speaking mission. Frankly, I can't believe there are enough productive English speaking areas for them to tract without falling over one another.

What a waste of manpower and family expense - and for what?

We did this kind of thing all the time on my mission. Sounds like a district blitz to help out a companionship who don't have much of a teaching pool.

The missionaries showed up at my house today, but luckily I was out back playing basketball with my younger brother. My other brother had answered the door, and he said the missionaries were just going door-to-door "saying hi to people." I almost laughed when he said this, because everyone in my neighborhood is either TBM or doesn't give a crap about the church. Looks like the missionaries around here have to resort to twiddling their thumbs and pretending they're "spreading the work of the church." I'm pretty sure they don't give the discussions very much, let alone get any baptisms lol.

I love it when I tell them that Joseph Smith was a fraud and I don't believe in the Book of Mormon. But then they want to know if I can direct them to someone who wants to hear their message?! Um, no. No, NO, NO!!!
