Went to Portland for lunch with my daughter and her friends. Went by the temple for the first time. I hope whoever their architect was that thought up fluted spires got fired. It looks like some kind of Disney princess palace.

OMFG it's practically the twin of the San Diego castle.

Except with the first two floors buried underground

That's where I was endowed and molested during the initiatory. I thought that I would leave the temple happy and uplifted. Instead, I felt dirty for several weeks afterward.

It's on I-5 down there? LOL. It's on I-5 in Portland, too.

I was actually wondering that. Thanks for the return and report.

A long time ago I went through the Portland temple. I remember feeling a bit of relief that there was quite a bit of dark wood (cherry) instead of the endless floaty white.

The exterior is a whole different story. I can't articulate the feeling I get when I drive by that thing. I'll have to put some thought into that. I grew up in Portland, so have a lot of connections there. My nevermo best friend lives a couple miles from that glow in the dark castle. The thing annoys me at the least.

I love the Portland Temple! It's my favorite one (as temples go). I always thought it was lovely, but then again my home temple was Seattle and that thing just looks like and UGLY library. Then again, I'm also a fan of princess castles too! ^_^

Beauty in the eyes, etc. I have a soft spot for the Stalin temples, especially Mesa.

When I went through seminary, there were 13 temples, and we learned them all by sight. Different era.

From the Book of the Church Building Codex:

"2. There can never be too many phalli."

Went to the San Diego temple open house many years ago with our Boy Scout den, who were earning their Parvelui Dai, the religion patch.
The all-Catholic boys were kind of dumbstruck, being used to Jesus symbols, stained glass, candles, statutes of Mary, the Saints, pews, the faint smell of incense.
Most comments were along the lines of,
It looks and feels like a fancy hotel or office.
My sons had quite a sense of humor. To this day, they proclaim,
"I peed in a Mormon temple" Boys...

Note: the architect on the SD temple is Catholic.

Portland temple is where I first did dead dunking.

Seeing locks on the lockers made me tilt my head.

Wish I saw the Portland temple. But only cause it would mean I was not in Utah
