When I lived in Mesa our neighbor had 7 boys, dad was bishop for a while, ect, all totally brainwashed. The oldest boy went on a mission to S. America. He came home early after almost starving to death. Apparently his mission leader would only allow the boys to eat one bowl of rice per day. On top of that, this boy contracted a severe parasitic worm that just flourished in his body. He was thin when he left and lost 30 lbs on before they would finally let him come home. Apparently he was not allowed to see a doctor or go to the hospital while he was there and it was only after his parents contacted SL that he was finally brought home.

He spent years after seeing multiple specialists who had no way of getting rid of this parasite and trying to stay alive. The MP was never held accountable.

Why is there no accountability leaders in the church who do this sort of thing to these young men they are supposed to be looking after? It's always bothered me and I still don't get it.

One story like that and I, if I were a Mormon mom, would forbid my kid to leave the states. End of conversation!!! But yet, they let their boys go to these God forsaken places because they think it is a blessing to serve and the family will be rewarded. SEND the parents there is what I say!!!

That's what priesthood blessings are for. Obviously that missionary isn't righteous enough to be healed. Or if he is, then our loving Heavenly Father wants him to be sick for a special purpose.

/me ducks/
