http://finance.yahoo.com/news/crazy-story-scientology-allegedly-once-131700711.html

Sometimes I did want to get on the pew and jump up and down in frustration with all the crap of Mormonism.

And I left before the toilet cleaning, so I dodged that duty.

Crazy how organizations in this "free" country can be so invasive and pervasive.

Scientologists claim 10 million adherents, but it seems there mailing list is only 30k, and most of those are inactives.

Scientologists go after the rich and famous, more than the poor, and down and out.

If they have smaller numbers, their individual wealth more than makes up for volume in its membership.

Leah Remini has left very publicly. Paul Haggis was in the HBO documentary. John Travolta is staying under duress. Kath Holmes and Nicole Kidman have denounced the cult. Cruise is about the only one left, and it has destroyed his credibility.

Scientology has a lot of money, but it's membership is almost gone. Their centers are nearly empty on weekends.

If Scientology is so effective, why does Kirsty Ally's weight fluctuate so dramatically every few years? Not enough auditing sessions? Or new chances for weight loss endorsement contracts?

How can they participate in an organization that pays people $50 a week, and they sleep 6 to a bedroom with no family contact? None of the celebrities had to do slave labor.

People pay LDS INC to work for free (missionaries/senior skilled labor missionaries). They don't come home for funerals... Temple marriages separate families... There are many similarities.

If either "religions" really cared about people and their members specifically they would be entirely different organizations.

They might even be sued for being more a club than a religion in creating all sort of benefits from millions of people pooling 10 percent of their incomes together...

But they are safe in their trading manuals and meeting houses and dead people processing plants in place of more tangible benefits of being one of the elect of The Lord in His Kingdom.
