I doubledog dare any active member of the church to support it in a Sacrament meeting talk. We'll see just how quickly they are threatened with loss of their temple recommend.
They already think they have a superior form of heterosexual marriage. This is just them giving up on their losing battle.
It was so stupid in the first place given the fact that they think that they have a superior form of heterosexual marriage.
Mormons in politics is just conservative politics. They want mainstream acceptance so badly that they will use their members money to get it - kinda like Old Joe playing Illinois political games.
Backpedalling at light speed! They know they'll be marginalized quickly if this isn't clarified. Why, it seemed only yesterday that supporting gay rights WAS EXACTLY "opposing the church," an excommunicable offense.

I don't see how deliberate advocacy for gay marriage is anything but leading people away from the teachings of the Mormon prophets. If I were a Stake President, I would be dumbfounded about what to do with this inspired guidance.
And, if as Christofferson indicated at the end, the LDS Church will never change its position (which I doubt), then what are folks who support gay marriage doing as members of LDS, Inc. in the first place.
