This is because now the enemies of ex-Mormonism have discovered that Susan I/S has decided to retire from moderation duties, they feel emboldened and have decided to associate with ex-Mormons by visiting RFM.

What can we, as ordinary RFM members do to help Eric?

Try not to engage trolls.

Rather than shouting "TROLL!!!!" in a thread/ use the report facility to send an electronic warning to the board moderators.

I like trolls. They give me a chance to get a healthy dose of angry energy out of my system when I dish out a healthy dose of verbal abuse at their beliefs.

It's not only an issue of not encouraging them. When our threads grow because we reply to them, it creates more crap for the mods to clean up.

Duly reported. Who is moderating now?

Pity the fools who assume the board has now become easy pickins of late.

RfM is now virtually self-correcting cyber tech and Susan thusly became redundundant.

Not really.

But the report button is still your friend.

It's our responsibility to help whoever is monitoring the board. If you want RFM to stick around, pick up the slack and use the report button. It's there for a reason. Help the new moderators do the job they are VOLUNTEERING to do.

Report people like Brigham Wiggum

We need to remember that everyone is in a different stage. Some question mormonism and need a place to vent but are fully active, they may even believe most of it. Others are Jack Mormons but still on the records, though they don't take it too seriously. And still many others have fully exited or are on the way out right now, and are full blown atheists.

People need to be patient and no name calling.

I thought the troll policy was to protect the trolls. After all, they don't have a leg to stand on. I say let them walk into the meat grinder.

It might be easier to provide a way for forum users to vote a "Troll Alert" tag onto a thread. In fact, maybe it's time for a ranking system to be devised. There are a lot of threads started here by well-meaning people that don't have much useful content. I would rather read the highly ranked threads first.

"Useful content" is such a personal judgement call.

Sometimes I come to this site to learn new historical truths or read well-debated topics, other times I need a lift and a laugh.

What's useful to me will vary from day to day, so I vote "no" on rankings.

I think the "good stuff" literally rises to the top by virtue of the site's topping system.
