Less actually then Jesus... At least the supposed writers of the BOM lived through what they reported and wrote it by their "own" hand. None of the writers of the gospel lived those events.
There isn't a single word that can be directly tied to Jesus's own mouth except by second (or any number) hand information.
Interesting how archaeologists in the Americas have never been able to find any ancient artifacts with Hebrew, Egyptian, or "Reformed Egyptian" writing on them. American Indians had several other writing systems unique to the new world, and many tribes did not use writing, especially in Joseph Smith's part of the world.
