Why do I think of temple weddings when I look at these?
http://www.sadanduseless.com/2014/01/traditional-russian-wedding-pictures/
And Mission plaques when I look at these?

Ah, Lenin and the groom playing the trumpet and a wedding dressed woman. That makes sense, but the graves and mission plaques? Maybe it was that my parents still would have preferred me dead to a dishonorable discharge (probably in some Law of Chastity breaking fashion.)

They still have that plaque I think. I hope to God I don't.

The wedding pictures!
You have an Odette with an arrow in her mouth crawling in a lake in her wedding dress.

Another couple are kissing on top of a swan....Swan Lake?

Then there is a couple that I swear even with all her brown ringlets framing her face, is it just me? I think she looks like a he who is passing for a she....but more power to the couple anyway.

I saw a horse's behind and a man climbing on a cow....????

The tombstones...I wonder if they make graven images of the women? They were beautiful and sad. I wonder if the engraved picture of a car meant they had achieved some level of status or did they die from crashing the car?

But as far as the wedding pictures go, I didn't see any "traditional" wedding pictures of the bride and groom in matching shirts sitting on hay bales!

I guess some traditions haven't caught on out side the morridor yet.....:D

I Googled for the hay bales and couldn't find one.

Nothing says Russian Mobster like an BMW engraved on your gravestone. It doesn't get much gaudier than a Russian mobster.

Compare to:

Notice how almost all feature the Orthodox Cross, even in the corners. Goes to show how honest these tombstones seem.....Russia is a land of crazy-ass hyper-patriotic people (I've been there) yet they remain touched by the religion of their forefathers. Even if the deceased weren't regular churchgoers themselves.

I'd go so far to say that Russia is truly God's Holy Land on Earth, wouldn't you say?
