This was in my mail today and I assume everyone got it, since I don’t subscribe to the local paper. It's a full page, front and back with flap on the side that just repeated the information

https://imgur.com/6ahkXdu

Since it's a full page ad, I couldn't scan it all at once. This is the top and bottom of the page.

I’ve been gone so long that I didn’t realize the church was doing this right in their headquarters. Must be lots of great families just waiting to be baptized.

Is someone using your mailbox illegally? Sounds like it.

Take the material to your post office and complain.

Love the pic of a pyramid from Tikal. Evidently a picture of a
structure built centuries after Book-of-Mormon times by a people
with no connection culturally, linguistically or genetically with
Hebrews is supposed to be "evidence for the Book of Mormon."

Who do you supposed does ads like this? Is the mission office here or does it come right from The Big Building on North Temple, where I nearly got hit by a guy in an old Cadillac coming out of that garage.

The odds are that it's mormons who know some people and are using their connections to make a buck. Sure, you get in for free, but while you're in there, they're prepping you to be ready to spend some money for the PROOF they have, that you'll want to show all your friends and neighbors! They'll all be amazed!

Plus with every order you get some sea monkeys! Just add water and watch them come to life!!!

Here is the link to the web page for this nonsense:

http://www.bofmwitnesses.com/about

Maybe they are trying to sell their own self-published books or teaching materials. I'm sure they aren't paying to rent auditoriums without having some way to make money off the venture.

I see they don't mention

the tithing requirement
the toilet cleaning requirement
no caffeine
no alcohol
no sex outside of heterosexual marriage
no masturbation
shunning non-believing family members
women and non-whites being regarded and treated as lower class
no baptism for children of SSM parents
or, that converts are most often "second class"

Feel free to add to the list. I'm so tired of their slimy sales pitches. They even tagged it with ad populum, a thing that screams "slime" to me.

It sounds like something that the morg often does here in the summer months. I've never gone to it. But I've seen full ads like the one you posted in our free newspapers(they come in with the mail twice a week).

Is it really from your local church? I know there are many people that make money off catering to mormon beliefs--BOM "proof" seminars, anti-masterbation clinics, film editing services, all of Deseret Book, etc. But it's usually not directly from LDS Inc. Not that LDS Inc does anything to dissuade their followers from being duped into spending money that way, or distance themselves from such enterprises. If this is actually from your local church, and not some private business that tries to manipulate people into thinking they are "church approved", that would be a very interesting development.

By local church, I was just referring the to Mormons, not like a local ward or stake.

Looking at the link to sign up and you can tell it's not sponsored by THE CHURCH, but if they didn't like it, whoever the guy is would be told to quit doing it.

I was just trying to be funny.

My father went to many of those seminars - Jeff Stewer is the name who ran it (Life Star). Basically they give the woman a victim complex and shame the men for being monsters BY LOOKING AT PORN.

Now, after 25 years my mom decides to leave my dad after hoveng so many kids. These types of seminars totally fuck families over.

Desperate Mormons do desperate things. Putting the Central American ruins on their flyer isn't even grasping at straws. It is just wishful thinking that could also be lying. Well actually it is definitely lying. Desperate Mormons.

Sounds something like "desperate housewives," only there is no sex (until the man marries his wives in the temple of course).

Considering the localities of these meetings, it's like preaching to the choir. Kind of a turkey shoot. Most people going are already TBM and if their not then they are just being dragged in by a TBM family member. Mormons and all other religions are constantly looking for validation in one form or another. And if there is a buck to be made, then all the better.

Do TBM's really think there is some sort of conspiracy of the 99% of all archaeologist, anthropologist, and historians saying the BOM is pure fabrication. What a delusional mindset, are we sure weed isn't legal in Utah.

Why are they allowed to do these presentations at the High Schools?

In those were schools in my area, I would make a huge stink about this, as it implies that the school supports this scam.

In fact, I'm going to make a stink, anyway!

Was the flyer placed in your mailbox by hand? Or was it mailed to you?

The USPS got after our neighborhood stake for junking up the mail boxes, so they leave fliers on a rubber band, wrapped around the mailbox flag, which is a nuisance to remove. I need a "No Soliciting" sign for my mailbox, I guess.

Because this is in Mormonlandia. Not only is there no separation of Church and State, there is no separation of Mormon Church and Anything at all. Blurred lines. That's my guess anyway.

"New and recent information..." Make up your mind, which is it, new or recent?

I'm sure the guy in the cadillac was the author of this. He's the guy who wrote all those chastity pamphlets back in the 1970's.

Targeting the teens-agers.
