You can not make this up.

I told you last week that the HP in the Stake are to discuss and help the Elders (not missionaries) to be better Priesthood holders, to help active the inactive Elders and their families and to help the Elders keep their covenants.

Well what did the Elders discuss? So I asked an Elder yesterday what they discussed. He had a difficult time remembering but then said:
1. The world is having trouble keeping families together so we discussed how we as a Church could help the community with helping to keep families together.

2. Discussed how we as a Church could help the community overcome the darkness that is in society.

I know this is a stupid question but why are they not discussing the problem that was identified for the High Priests? Seems it should have been a good fit. So HP are to help the Elders who instead of helping themselves are going to help the community!!!!!!

Can anyone say "Busy work" that will accomplish nothing.

It seems to me that there are serious PH communication and planning errors. Someone in the HP group thinks that Elders are at the root of the church's problems while the Elders' thinking reveals that they are to tackle a world/global problem.

I wonder if the Jehovah Witnesses have this same issue with their HP and Elders groups. I worry about all the crazy churches getting together and making a super church that uses all the brainwashing and programming techniques.

I'd like to think it's a passive-aggressive pushback against the condescending HPG. Grown men, including emotionally stunted mormons, aren't keen on the idea of being babysat.

"Since we adults are clearly unable to keep our covenants on our own – because it's too hard all by ourselves – how can we help the righteous and godly HP hold our hands while thanking them for the privilege of being patronized?" isn't going to get a warm reception among the elders.

Meanwhile, others will plan & later execute the most trivial details of youth activities, handcart treks, fireside, & camps.

Marvelous, Wonderful!

The more nebulous the task, the less there is to actually do. So it sounds like they took the directive of helping with home teaching and bothering inactives and turned it into thinking holy thoughts about the community. Well done!

How soon will they turn their attention to 'the Evils of homosexuality, SSM"?

I was right in predicting that this new program would pit one group against another, as well as individual Mormons against each other--internally. It's happening already!

Mormonism was always a competitive, money-grabbing, power-hungry, self-serving religion. Mormons are always at war. Their enemies are "persecutors", gays, "the great and abominable church", internet porn, anti-Mormon literature. But now, the Mormon church is at war with its own members! "2 early 2 log in" is right. When will Mormons say "enough" of cleaning bathrooms, paying money for malls and resorts, making their children suffer on pioneer treks, policing each other, being abusive (and abused) missionaries, sacrificing their education years and their retirement years on useless busy work. The members don't even receive a "thank you," just more threats if they lag behind in their callings. The focus is on death, fear, hatred.

An old BYU professor of mine used to say that nothing could ever defeat the Mormon church. Like the giant redwoods, the church will withstand droughts, winds, and even forest fires. What does kill redwoods is the tiny bore-beetle, which kills the tree from the inside out. Someday, the cult will implode.

Another inspired and successful program

Purpose is to keep members too busy to think or read the internet.

Yes they are responsible to set the agenda for these discussion.

Here is a clincher. The Stake Center has the temple on its property. The Priesthood is assigned to clean snow off the walks this months. It's an Elders assignment. So they have teams assigned for 4 or days and they have to shovel the walks if it snows.

Now they can't shovel the temple stuff. That is contracted out. So why do they not get the same contractor to shovel the walks around the Stake Center at the same time. So last weeks snow we had the private contractor cleaning the temple stuff and Priesthood cleaning the Stake stuff. Thus taking men away from their families and denying that important Priesthood leadership in the home that the HP are going to come in and correct.

I am not making this up. I know it sounds weird. The temple president specially said "do not clear walks or stairs to temple. Never touch the stairs." The private contractor must do it. Penny wide and dollar foolish.
