I really dislike when parents take their kids out because they themselves are suffering from mental illness. But perhaps that is a part of the illness.

Madison was baptized at age 9. Perhaps her mom was inactive.

It says her mom was a recent convert too.

It is tragic no matter who, why or when. But especially a young mother with a child - and as you say she could've spared her daughter.

Just tragic.

They'd been dead for a week or two.

It seems strange there was no one to check on them in that amount of time especially because it was the holidays.

If they had any family that is. Friends or neighbors also could've wondered. It was the package left on the porch that caught anyone's attention something was amiss.

It is heartbreaking.

Mental illness crosses all socio-economic lines.

The woman needed intervention she didn't get in time.

What a tragedy.

How sad for all concerned, including their community.

A single mother struggling to raise kids.

Then she joins the morg and sees people's pretend happiness and family closeness which eluded her.
So she offs herself and the girl, thinking they will be in a better place.

Sad situation.

I know it's been discussed here before, but still, what is the deal with these scenarios in Utah?

Just as the overdose rate from opioids there.

I never could do it, but I considered it. Many people think I'm horrible for even admitting it. I was in a very, very dark place and had lost all hope. I tried to figure out ways of taking my children with me and never could, so i stayed, but I didn't want to. BUT I couldn't leave my kids here without me. I wasn't going to make them live a lifetime knowing their mother committed suicide. Life is difficult enough.

My feelings were, at the time, that if life was this painful and I hadn't been able to protect them from the man who was their father who should have never hurt them like he did, then why would I want them to remain here on earth just so they could experience more pain.

So--somehow I stuck it out. Thanks to a great therapist who dragged me through that hell and out the other side.
