So said one of the men being interviewed for the Elizabeth Smart documentary last night on the A&E channel.
He was present when Elizabeth was sighted in a gathering of people downtown SLC. He felt sorry for her then, without realizing who she was or he would have turned her abductors in immediately.
He said to the interviewer, 'In Salt Lake City you are either a Mormon or a counter-Mormon,' in explaining the mindset of the local population.
The "counter-culture" in Salt Lake City (and perhaps Utah by extension,) is to be counter-Mormon.
A strange dichotomy therefore of living in the Morridor. Similar to Alice in Wonderland, where you're either for or against the institution. Neutrality is unheard of.
