So said one of the men being interviewed for the Elizabeth Smart documentary last night on the A&E channel.

He was present when Elizabeth was sighted in a gathering of people downtown SLC. He felt sorry for her then, without realizing who she was or he would have turned her abductors in immediately.

He said to the interviewer, 'In Salt Lake City you are either a Mormon or a counter-Mormon,' in explaining the mindset of the local population.

The "counter-culture" in Salt Lake City (and perhaps Utah by extension,) is to be counter-Mormon.

A strange dichotomy therefore of living in the Morridor. Similar to Alice in Wonderland, where you're either for or against the institution. Neutrality is unheard of.

This is the Correlated Church's perspective of things in their imposed bubble. SLC is multicultural and exmormons have myriad views of Mormonism. Some soft, some medium, some hard, and some "I don't give a rat's ass." It's a broad spectrum unlike how the Correlated Church wants TBMs to be. I'm sure TBMs view things from myriad positions, but they are not allowed to voice their views for fear of being 'outed.'
