OK feel really guilty now and will confess.

I'm a regular here. I came on the board the other night and there were about 7 threads at the top about atheists. I'm not remotely interested in discussing atheism so I started a sarky thread about how I'd come here to discuss the LDS church but this board seemed to be about atheism, was I in the right place?

Came back on and there were 33 lovely kind replies welcoming me to ex-Mormon!

The thread was closed so wanted to thank you all here.

* If I had been a new poster I would honestly have been confused though by the fact that there were more threads about atheism than the LDS church *.

Wait a sec... Is this some kind of a trick to get us talking about atheism again?

There are a couple of topics that appear from time to time that I find are too esoteric for me: 'atheism' and 'was Jesus a real person'. I tried to follow them at first, but these appeared to coalesce into personal arguments between a few regulars and others.

Or the "define what an atheist is" threads.

anonbrit, just for that "prank" something far worse than an atheism argument:

What do you know about the Mormon church, and would you like to know more?

(I don't know the latest missionary hook.)

Go on with your bad self, brit! :) What do you have prepared for April Fool's Day?

I didn't introduce myself on the other thread as I *have become* an atheist (gradually, after leaving the morg, and after much study), and I guess you didn't need yet another atheist cheer leader on that thread........

.......but welcome from yet another Brit who frequents the board

I think that the board goes through cycles with regard to some topics. It's like the weather: if you don't like the topics, wait a minute.

I haven't read any of the atheist threads, but from looking at the titles I have come to the conclusion that koriwhore is a closet athiest and Tal Bachman just got dumped by an atheist girlfriend ;)

and point out the problems with Atheism, since it seems to be the dominant identity around here.
I like to challenge the status quo and not just conform to what seems 'cool'.
Just because you're ExMo, does not mean your only choices are theism or atheism. Most of the people I admire most reject the 'Atheist' label, even though they don't subscribe to any kind of a personal God, like Einstein, Harris, Bill Nye, Neil deGrass Tyson, the list goes on...

The journey from Mormonism is personal and all who have suffered the "church" should respect the belief choices made by those who have decided to end their affiliation with it. This is one of the reasons that I stay out of the theist/atheist arguments. They seem to do no good.
