I hate that I was lied to. I see tbms and missionaries as people that lie to others, and are so close minded as to not care.

But a cultic life takes its toll on your self-esteem, choices, and money.

We were fed false doctrine AND were in a cult.

I don't understand why you see this as an "or". Doesn't a cult require made up doctrine? Could you have one without the other?

I tend to see them more as victims of a cult, especially if they were indoctrinated as children. It wasn't easy for me to leave either.

I just had a couple mishies stop by (a rare occurrence) 2 days ago. It made me sad as I watched these 2 little boys cluelessly doing what they were expected to do. We didn't talk religion, I was nice to them. Maybe because I have a nephew in Australia right now, doing the same thing and just as clueless, they had my sympathy.

I also had a couple JW's knock on my door last week. I stopped them short mid speech and told them I didn't want to waste their or my time because I don't believe in any of that stuff. They said thanks for letting them know and left. I felt sorry for them as well.

"Made up doctrine"...There's a redundancy in there somewhere...

Are they victims? Possibly, then they are lying victims who work hard to fool people into joining their cult.

They are victims...

But

They are lying to people, and ruining lies.

And that's what I see now...they are living to people.

And that's why I'm still on RFM after several years.

They are lying to people.

Harm continues, and I feel like an impotent bystander, watching, and feeling sad.

Of course they're victims of very insidious brainwashing. Blame the parents.
