True. And I'd it requires being left in the dark. ;)

I love mushrooms, Mormons not so much. Both are a sort of parasitic fungus?

Both can distort the way you see this world (if that kind of mushrooms are included).

PS: I don't know when I pressed reply to your comment Jersey Girl.

Mushrooms are edible.

Mormons are bad for the digestive system.

Like most funguses, Mormonism hates the light, and shrivels and dies when exposed to it.

You can't tell which ones are toxic by looking at them.

Morrell mushrooms that grow only in the spring in Indiana (not sure where else) for a VERY short time are wonderful after being soaked in saltwater (to get rid of bugs, etc.), cut in half, laid on paper towels, then dipped in egg and cracker crumbs and fried in butter. To buy them in the store (when they are getting old and dried out), they are something like $50 to $60 a pound. But hard to find. During mushroom season when I was a kid, my mother used to get up about 4:00 a.m. and go mushroom hunting out in some woods until about 6, then come home, shower, dress, and go to work.

When I was diagnosed with cancer, two different friends from my UU church told me to get some "turkey tail mushroom" supplements and start taking them immediately. Ihad never heard of them before, but decided what the hell, I already had cancer, so I did. Started taking 2 a day, as it says on the bottle. My latest scan (yesterday) was CLEAN. I don't know that there is a connection but I am going to keep taking them. My doctor said he had never heard of them, but they obviously are not hurting anything, so to keep taking them if I want. I have read that there is a lot of research going on about them--they have apparently "cured" cancer in dogs, and really slow it down in people. I certainly can't say it is the turkey tail mushrooms that gave me a CLEAN SCAN yesterday, but obviously they didn't hurt me. I'm going to get more and suggest to my kids to take them, too--pre-cancer, so to speak. Mine are capsules, btw, with dried mushroom stuff inside. When they grow, they look like turkey tails--hence, the name. I had never heard of them until I got cancer and people kept coming up to me and advising me to get some, which I finally did. Yes, I will keep taking them! Oh, and they are advertised as being "immune system boosters," not cures for anything. They just apparently make your immune system so strong it can more easily fight off anything bad that comes your way (like cancer). So, in ending--to me, they are nothing like Mormons. Very dis-similar! :)
