"Mitt Romney boosted sales of his book this spring by asking institutions to buy thousands of copies in exchange for his speeches, according to a document obtained by POLITICO."

Are you honest in all your dealings?

They buy up heaps of their own drivel, like "Dianetics" and then return them? To manipulate their rankings on Amazon?

Some hack writes a book and has his big contributors buy them in bulk to hand out or throw away. It's a way to channel money directly to the politician instead of to his campaign apparatus.

Meanwhile, over in LDS land, the GAs have a similar thing going, only instead of pressuring big tithe payers to buy books in bulk, they have a ready-made market of undiscriminating sycophants who'll buy whatever crap they publish.

Beck is out there showing the world just how weird Mormons can be. This could hurt Romney's electability.

Amazon. Published this year, too. (Shakes head sadly.)

I wish he had donated some of his campaign money to worthy charities. Between "Sister Wives" and Glen Beck's meltdown there is little chance of his successful nomination.

Love it....I heard this too and thought boy he is desperate to get his name on top for the Repubs. Sorry, Mormon cult man, it isn't happening. And we don't want your book.

Former bookseller and book buyer here:

He'll make almost as much whether the books sold, or did not sell.

And even at $2 a book, someone still makes money, whether in buy- backs, resales, non-profit giveaways and donations (which result in exemptions), claims against loss, etc.

There are loads of legal, though sometimes unethical, imho, ways to make money, even off of a turkey... they do the same things with excess inventory of a companies desks or useless computers, or when someone makes a mistake and orders too many widgets that go unsold and have to be warehoused.

You are not supposed to make political statements.

BTW, our current president is much more competent than his predecessor.
