This is so frustrating to still have pain everyday and just wait for the go ahead from insurance to get anything done. We have all suffered enough no matter what mormonism taught.

Can you get hold of some cannabis oil or extract. If youre at a 10, you need to call your pain managment dr and your nurse at your insurance.

That is the best route to go, honestly.

Medical cannabis may be a long time coming to Idaho.

It isn't something I'd be running out to buy because I saw too many of my classmates from high school destroy their lives with it when it wasn't legal.

I stick with Alleve &/or Tylenol for my aches and pains. If it's severe my doc may order Tylenol with codeine. Use that on an as-needed basis and that's been rare.

Chronic pain is nothing to mess with. Hopefully your doctor will help determine what's right for you, that is non-addictive.

Acupuncture gets some good reviews. Finding a reputable acupuncturist that's affordable or who accepts health insurance could make a world of difference.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is super toxic, a real health destroyer. New evidence arrives regularly demonstrating its toxicity.

I think CBD oil is freely available on the internet, not hard to find at all. Is anyone getting busted for buying it? Not to my knowledge.

I dunno. When I had surgery four years ago, Tylenol was the only pain relief I was allowed to take for weeks leading up to the surgery. That's because the other things on the market are blood thinners, and Tylenol is not.

You do need to take it with food to protect the internal organs. I keep the dosage as low as possible when I've needed it.

It's actually the #1 pain relief med used in hospitals.

"The regular surveys conducted by McNeil show that, while most doctors recommended the drug, they also told patients to take the medication at doses far less than the daily maximum allowed by the federal government, according to the previously undisclosed documents.

The reason? Doctors worried that what the government and company described as the maximum safe dose of the active ingredient in Tylenol, a compound called acetaminophen, was too close to the level that can damage the liver and even lead to death."

so they sell $2 billion of tylenol a year, and all the hospitals use it. So that makes it safe? Appeal to authority if you wish. Every drug ever recalled due to toxicity was once approved and popular.

I don't do Pharmas as my body can't handle them (have tried and failed too many times), so I do all natural herbal and other remedies. I've gotten pretty good at treating myself. One thing I do for pain management (Which I still need every month for my 'female troubles') is to use Kava Kava herb. Very potent. And don't believe any hype you read online about liver damage BS. That is very misrepresented and has only to do with when some company used the wrong parts of the plant trying to cut corners. Most sellers now do not do this. I recommend the Kona Kava or Fiji Kava brands esp. You can get it on Amazon though that may take some time or you can often find extracts at health food stores. Take as much as you need, it is safe. What isn't safe IMHO is Pharma pain killers, THEY are the stuff that cause liver damage and worse. I had used cannabis for years for my cramps but had to use a lot and ended up with hang overs the next day but then found out about Kava and that was way more effective in my case and did not cause the side effects of cannabis (including brain fog/ focusing issues).

So that's my recommend. Not knowing what the pain is though makes it harder to help further.. but I do hope this is helpful. And you are right you should not have to suffer further pain!

I should add that my monthly pain is very serious (less so these days thank the lord baby jesus! ;)).. worst pains I've ever had in my life, akin to labor pains.. so I know about pain. I nearly suicided over it a couple of times as I could not bear it. I took hard core pharmas that did not help.. so just saying I know what I am talking about when I talk about pain!

Many women find they get excellent pain relief from CBD vaginal suppositories, with no hangovers. CBD is not psychoactive that way, but excellent for pain.

Sometimes you can find CBD oil at health food stores. Some states may require you to register for a marijuana card in order to get it. But I buy it over the counter at the local food coop near my home.

I have used it to help me sleep, which it does very well. I had to have a cannabis card (legal in my State) to buy it, but I used it so seldom that I let the card expire. It costs about $200+ to renew it.

CBD oil (like most weed products) tastes VILE. And, I have not noticed that it did anything for my pain.

I use opiates, very carefully. The single most amazing thing that helps me is Tiger Balm. It has a lot of menthol in it, and the tingling coolness of the menthol helps quiet the pain in my back. Tiger Balm used to come in a nasty earwax color, which stained fabrics, but now it is available in white. The best thing about it is that you don't have to wait 8 or 12 hours until you can use it again. You can just keep slathering it on.

I can't honestly say that I am impressed with the opiates. Tramadol seems to work marginally better than Hydrocodone for me. They give me a head rush more than anything else. I may try going without them for a few days, just to see if they make any appreciable difference. The thought that they might not is terrifying.

Pain is circumscribing my life to such an extent that I am trying very hard not to give in to despair.

Hang in there, Brother Badass. We understand.

I am with you in not giving into despair and i agree that tramadol is the better choice over hydrocodone. I dont think i have ever heard of tiger balm but i have been using aspercreme which i dont know if its doing anything. Is tiger balm at walmart?

I buy it at Walgreen's - don't know if they have those in ID. It is in the same section as stuff like Ben-Gay.

DH came home today with Icy Hot lidocaine patches. I've never tried them before. I'll let you know how they work.

You might have to accept that you can't heal yourself.
And that you might have to deal with pain for the rest of your life.

You may be able to lessen the pain to a more manageable level. You *might* someday be able to get rid of it.
Or not.

In any case, being alive with pain is still far better than not being alive at all. I've had constant pain (mostly in a very damaged and probably not "fixable" ankle) for more than 20 years. I deal with it. Doesn't keep me from loving being alive :)

Gosh dang it hie you sound like my counselor. I believe that anything can be fixed i just have to find the right specialist. I have fixed a lot so far so i know it can be done.

There is a lot you can do on your own. Six years ago, I was told by specialist MD's that my time was up, yet I am still here. I have learned a lot about natural therapies etc., and the power of my own mind and body to heal when working together to apply the proper energy. You are more powerful than you may think you are.

Well i am definitely open to trying new things right now. I just started the CBD oil today but without the THC and hopefully that will help.

:)

The thing is, not everything *can* be fixed. I'm not trying to discourage you from trying (not by any means!), but the fact remains: some things can't be fixed.

And chasing after "miracle" cures or folk remedies, while having a very tiny chance of real success and a slightly larger chance of a mild placebo effect, because you "believe" anything can be fixed, can be a huge waste of money and time, as well as do nothing but disappoint you over and over again when they don't work.

Keep trying. Follow the good advice of professionals when it comes to things to try. Try some stuff other people suggest, if it's not costly or harmful (so do your research first). In the meantime, don't stop enjoying life because you have some pain, and don't make ridding yourself of pain such an all-consuming quest that you miss out on the wonderful world going on all around you. :)

Best, my friend.

Haha it is definitely my quest. I feel if i can get the pain issues out of the way i can enjoy life better or something to that nature. It is just a dream i guess.

It's worth questing after. But with a healthy dose of reality informing the quest :)

My point, though, stands either way:

Don't let enjoying life pass you by as you "quest."
You'll never see today again. Make it a good today. Pain or no pain.

:)
