It kind of stinks. Trying to be hip, politically correct, touchy feely, everything for everybody. Heck I can get that almost anywhere in today's culture.

As the cultural concept of 'race' has been shown to be cultural fiction, and not biological fact, calling homosexuality an 'instinctive racial response' is rather silly, and downright wrong.

IDK how well this fits, but I think changing the garment style was a significant, if not Major concession

I'm referring to the two-piece design of the 70's

Anecdotal example: When I was a kid my mother hated the Beatles. She said they were raunchy and their music was sinful. Or they were sinful, and their music was raunchy, I forget which. Three decades later someone gave her a collection of Beatles on CD, and she suddenly loved it. I grew up by gaslight.
