Dark Sky Astronomy event Lassen Park, CA (one of many)

Parks all over the country are doing this, but here is one at Lassen Vol. Nat'l Park in Northern CA.

Aug 11, 12, 13.

Hopefully, Dave the Atheist will show up and chart our horoscopes. Friends say it's wonderful. Would be a fun meet-up for many of us in this area.

I used to go to Lassen every summer for a 5-day astronomy geek-out. Great fun.
Go if you get the chance. Best place at the park for astronomy is the Bumpass Hell parking lot.
I kid you not :)

I grew up in Lassen Park. Bumpass Hell Rocks!

Devastated Area parking lot is good too, but pretty small.

Devil's Kitchen is one of the best kept secrets around if ya wanna see geothermal activity. Accessible from the east entrance to the park (near Chester) and about a four-mile walk in.

Anyone want to know the shortcut to Cold Boiling Lake? Gimme a bit of time, and I'll create a good map. :)
