The character is an old cop, born in the church, did the whole nine yards growing up. But now, as retirement is approaching, he doesn't go to church, likes beer and is his form of atheist. He's interviewing for a job, for when he retires, and the fact that he's a mormon pops up. He's being interviewed by a panel and one of them is uber TBM and gets on the old cop a bit. The old cop then hits him with,

"Hey, I'm a perfectly good Latter Day Saint; I just don't happen to practice mormonism."
