Because the LDS chruch clearly teaches homophobia, I think this Ted talk is relevant here. I think it shows a very interesting and insightful description of the impact of homophobia.

It is just what I needed to hear.

Thanks CL2.

I get so wrapped up in the big things, like the fight for gay marriage, that I forget the little stuff.

Ultimately the fight is for the ability to live our lives without fear.

After listening to and reading all this stuff about these gay men married to women show on TLC, I have been really angry. Listening to this put it all in perspective.

Yes, thank you for putting this out there. I would have missed it, otherwise. It seems very relevant to me, and very worthwhile.

Because I have a very poor internet connection, I rarely click on talks longer than a few minutes. This was a valuable exception.

How I wish that all people could just grasp one tiny idea --- that we are all just people. And let it go at that.

Thanks MJ - I would have missed it too. I need to monitor those Ted talks better because so many of them are so full of valuable insights.

Just last friday I was on a date. Every time we stood kinda close together (we were walking in a park, third date together) he would look around worried. We were holding hands at one point but then he heard some people and immediately let go and scooted away (we were on a bench) took out his phone and acted like he was just there casually and not with me...

Gays hide in public because they don't want to trigger a hate crime. Even in DC today, gays get beaten up for showing affection or just because some homophobe feels like punishing us.

It sucks to have to hide for fear of abuse and attacks.
