My Brother has been having hard times In his life. I will not disclose anything overly notable but will say tonight, that he called the family and said that something had happened with his health, enough that he was going to the ER for treatment. Right at that very moment when he called and said he needed help, the bishop called. My dad thinks this was personal revelation or the spirit speaking to the bishop, because the bishop asked how my Brother was doing right at that very moment. He didn't call and say. "Get to the hospital, your son needs your help!" He simply asked how he was doing. So I pointed this out to my Dad and he, quoting that oft mentioned phrase "Oh ye of little faith" drove me into that crazy thought again that somehow this was inspired.

How can this be? To me, this seems like another warm fuzzy moment or a chance random call.

I hate it when my Father always puts me in a rut. I'm way past that magic age where my family can control what I do because I'm older then 18, but my parents remain deeply ingrained in the cult, its disheartening.

The funny thing about when a coincidence like that happens, is that to them it always automatically means, "The Church is true."

Not, "Wow, what an amazing thing. It can't be a coincidence." Or, "Gee, maybe there is something to paranormal stuff." Or, "I guess God, or something, is really there."

No, it always means, "The Mormon God is real and The Church is true."

They're always latching onto anything they can count as a sign.

I think Mormons crave validation for their beliefs because at some level -- consciously or subconsciously -- they know the church is unbelievable. So they grasp at any little thing as evidence the church is true.

Did someone at the hospital know your brother and notify the bishop?

Nope

I think it's likely that since your brother was having hard times, he was on the bishop's mind. I assume the bishop knows some things about your brother's struggles from your dad, or am I wrong?

The bishop has spoken to my Brother about his issues before in fact, including earlier bishops in the ward about his struggles. Of course, the member record keeps all the crazy things that Bishops say about members and discipline on them, so the successor bishop would know. Yes he knows much of this through my dad.

When MORmONS have a feeling that validates their MORmON cause /MORmON religion then it is god's unquestionable truth.

When you dare to question those MORmON confirmations of "THE" truth, then you are EVIL AND SUBVERSIVE. Your contrary feelings must be vilified. You must be discounted as a person.

Does your dad act and operate like this sanctimonious MORmON prick Bob? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCN3AvH4JRg

and then MORmONS wonder why people HATE them ......

My Dad is a convert, unlike converts of the present age however, he has never looked back, he has allowed himself to become encapsulated in this cult severely. The same thing goes for my Brother and what he is facing, BIC like myself, but not even willing to question the church and wonder whether the church might be causing what he is facing.

For three Sundays in a row, my car tire went flat at while attending church. Instead of acknowledging that shit happpens, I used my Mormon logic as a personal revelation that gawd wants me to stay home every Sunday.

No, obviously that's Satan using his magic to keep you from church.

In terms of the flat tire at church, was someone sending you a message, they didn't want you there?

(1) Your brother had to go to the ER.

(2) The Bishop called and asked about a family member known to
have problems.

BOTH of these things are normal, non-psychic events. However
they just happened to have happened very closely to each other
THIS TIME.

How many times has a bishop called someone and asked about a
family member? How many of those times was that family member
just admitted to the ER? The problem is that NOBODY thinks
it's a big deal when those things happen individually. But in
YOUR case (and not thousands of others) they did happen one
right after another. So you see only your case and think it
must be something amazing.

With all the calls and all the ER visits (or similar events) it
is to be expected that now and then the two will coincide.
When they do THAT person will be thrown for a loop and say, "it
must be inspiration." This time around you just happen to be
"that person"

If you were dispassionately watching every bishop call in the
world you'd not be impressed.

By the way, I know a Mormon who just had a series of serious
medical procedures for a life-threatening condition. Not one
call from the bishop or even the Home Teachers.

And do all the times there was a problem and the bishop DIDN'T call prove the church ISN'T true?

You have a point. obviously when problems happen and the Bishop doesn't suddenly call and panic over something a family member is doing, that does not validate at all that the cult is true.
