Tone policing is well-taught in the LDS church. Don't ever get offended, and don't be angry or bitter about being lied to.

If you are going to leave the church, do so quietly, don't criticize, move on, and forgive. Just disappear.

I like the video about how to apologize. It points out how the infamous Mormon non-apology of "I'm sorry you were offended" is just blaming the victim.
