Just think about it. Brigham Young legitimized Joseph Smith's little trick of "marrying" his victims but instituting actual polygamy. Smith never intended on being a polygamist any more than Cosby was to having lots of girlfriends.

This made me wonder, did he have ANGELS IN DEMAND for his financial dealings? I don't remember if this happened in Mormon History?

I understand wanting to marry your 14 year old daughter off (god knows they are challenge at that age), what I dont understand is how any mentally healthy adult male would be interested in said 14 year old girl. That to me is proof that JS was a sick bastard.
What do you want to bet that a good portion of Mormon men admire Joe Smith for his booty roster? I used to work with a sixty year old excommunicated Mormon man who said he would prefer girls who were fourteen for wives. I just read a piece that CA girl linked on her thread and the Mormon writer mentioned that Helen Kimball was fourteen and that was okay and typical for the era. I couldn't help but note a winking tone in his prose. I wonder if there's a cultural ripple from the early years?
My father molested a girl who to this day I have no idea how he could do it. She was 14. She hadn't hit puberty yet and looked 12.
It sickens me but I think the patriarchal culture I grew up in tacitly condones abuses of women as sexual objects.
My father is hen pecked. He will die a hen pecked husband, but he admires both of his fathers and both were terrible husbands and fathers. Rulon Jeffs, we know he was into young girls I just don't know how young and my grandfather (my father's adopted father) remarked when it was revealed that my father was going to jail that my father had the misfortune of getting caught.
