Me too but I never mind it very much unless I have a busy day ahead. A cup of tea and my iPad is something to enjoy at this hour. Beats tossing and turning.
It took me two hours to get back to sleep. I just woke up again. I went to bed at midnight and expected to be up at 7:00. 9:30 is very late for me. I don't like sleeping my precious weekend hours away, but at least I won't be too tired all day now. I'm babysitting for my sister this evening, so could be up quite late.
I've often wondered if it was partly because my mother was always trying to force me to go to bed according to the clock, not according to whether or not I was tired. And while most other kids had bedtimes too, it always seemed like mine was earlier than anybody else's.
I was ecstatic when I learned to read. I would sneak out to the kitchen, where the ONLY flashlight in the house was kept, and steal the flashlight, so I could read under the bedcovers. My sweet, innocent father wondered why the batteries wore out so often.
Even now, I love to read before going to sleep. I've tried audiobooks, but listening to someone ELSE read knocks me out within a few minutes. I can't pay attention to the story.
That's one of the things I love about being retired. You can go to bed and get up according to your OWN schedule, instead of someone else's. I sleep so much better, when I know there isn't an alarm set.
