This is a great example of a speculative scientific paper being picked up by mainstream media and blown all out of context. When the results are later shown to not be from T rex, as will almost certainly be the case, no one will report it. I wouldn't bet a house, but I'd bet a car that it's contamination, the source of which has yet to be identified. As this is an exmo site, a similar example was when that dingbat at BYU claimed to have sequenced dinosaur mtDNA.

The article linked above isn't actually about the T-rex findings. However, the soft tissue that was found in the T-rex is legit and not contamination. Here is an older article about it:
