kidnapped, God didn't care about? Elizabeth Smart must have not been as holy, so she had a price to pay.

People should NEVER say things like this. Do they really listen to themselves?

I live in SLC and have been hearing the news about this on the radio, and it's a lot different than what this article says. When I first heard it on Saturday, then said the kidnapper dropped the girl and ran when confronted by the father. The father became alert when he heard the front door opening and heard her yelling, "No, no, no!".

The whole story is odd. Too bad there wasn't more follow up as to what kind of trouble the kidnapper thought he was in that required a child bargaining chip.

I noticed one of the linked stories had the headline:

Missing Provo girl found dead; apparent suicide
http://www.sltrib.com/news/1811567-155/girl-chambers-monday-police-provo-apparent

I guess God failed to help his Earth daughter...once again.

I think there's pretty solid evidence of God's intervention. After all, he felt "something". Good enough for me.

I agree, though, that people don't understand how cruel it is when they say God intervened because somebody in the room is thinking, "WTF didn't he help me?"
