...before tomorrow morning, please have a happy Christmas, and may you do fun stuff. For a couple of German friends here, Frohe Weihnacht. And for at least one Italian, Buon Natale.

May peace be with you, this day, and always... //cue Tabernacle Choir music//

Big day tomorrow for Airing of Grievances. And are you free to tell us what your Feat of Strength will be?

I think I'll go with packing and unpacking everything I own, moving to a new state, and unpacking everything while simultaneously continuing to feed, medicate and support my disabled son...all seven weeks after a double radical mastectomy.

That's my feat of strength.

PS. I also have phantom nipple itch. Anybody heard of that????

Thank you.

(Silly Spanish speakers. I don't think that Spanish will ever catch on, do you?)

The first thing I thought of when you said that

(Being a good American, I sneaked in only one "Weihnacht." We are screwed out of the two that everyone else gets to enjoy. And Three Kings Day is right out.)

What's a Weihnacht?

That's Christmas in German, but we (ehm... they) usually say Weihnachten. They start to celebrate on the 24th, which is very important here, then they celebrate a erste Weihnachtstag (first day of Christmas, the 25th) and a zweite Weihnachtstag (second day of Christmas, the 26th). So also the 26th is a holiday here.

I forget how to say thank you in German (I know it isn't Wienerschnitzel) but I think it is something like "donkeyshit", as a friend says it.

"Wienerschnitzel" is a universal answer to everything because it is sooooo good, especially with roasted potatoes and red cabbage. And Spatenbräu. Or maybe Beck's. But the real words are "Danke schön." Or "Danke sehr." Or just plain "Danke."

Now you know that I know - though I may not be able to spell them - (at least) three words in German.
