>"In 1981, an article published in American Journal of >Psychiatry described paraphilia as "recurrent, intense >sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors >generally involving: > 1.Non-human objects > 2.The suffering or humiliation of oneself or one's partner > 3.Children > 4.Non-consenting persons"
"recurrent" "behaviors" involving "non-consenting persons" and "children" sounds a lot like our holy man himself.
Another definition (Mosby's Medical Dictionary):
>"Sexual perversion or deviation. A condition in which the >sexual instinct is expressed in ways that are socially >prohibited or unacceptable or are biologically undesirable, >such as the use of a nonhuman object for sexual arousal, >sexual activity with another person that involves real or >simulated suffering or humiliation, or sexual relations with >a nonconsenting partner."
"Socially prohibited or unacceptable or biologically undesireable" Sound like Joseph?
In other words, paraphile is a nice way to say "pervert" and sound medical.
Pedophiles are defined (usually) as PRIMARILY or ONLY attracted to pre-pubescent children.
Not an all-important distinction, but if you speak to family members or TBMs it might help keep the discussion on solid ground.
