The church should dispatch some priesthood holders to the hospitals where we're treating doctors infected with Ebola. Or maybe to West Africa so they can demonstrate the power of the p'hood by stopping the epidemic in its tracks.

There is not enough magical olive oil in Africa.

What a waste. I'd rather have a nice salad with olive oil vinaigrette than waste it on a blessing.

Personally, I prefer to use olive oil to condition my hair.

Not to brag or anything, but anyone who saw my hair, or ate my Greek cooking, would agree that my vagina has had no adverse affect on my ability to make miracles happen with olive oil.

Of course they work, they work for any and every injury or illness depending on your faith. The problem is no one has that much faith.

Priesthood blessings can work (or at least help) sometimes thanks to the "placebo effect".

Even though I'm not TBM anymore, if I were a doctor and my patient asked me if they could have a priesthood blessing, I'd let them tbh. Best case scenario: It works as a placebo, worst case scenario: It does nothing.

I suppose they work as well on Ebola as they do on anything else.

Sadly, most ebola patients are not as delightsome and devout as true believers in Zion.

I'm pretty sure not a single Mormon believes in their authority enough to Lay Hands on an Ebola victim bleeding out the eyes.

Unless priesthood power works through rubber gloves and a haz-mat suit. That is an interesting theological question though. If bra-fabric can foil masonic garment markings, I bet rubber gloves can act as a priesthood barrier...

I don't know that we teach that. I don't know that we emphasize it. I haven't heard it discussed for a long time in public discourse. I don't know. I don't know all the circumstances under which that statement was made. I understand the philosophical background behind it. But I don't know a lot about it and I don't know that others know a lot about it.
