So did Joseph lie? What else may he have lied about?...

They tugged on a thread with these essays and now it's all coming unraveled. That's what happens when you have too many lies to keep track of.

In the church essays, they try and justify those kind of blatant lies (without mentioning them) by saying that Joseph was ordered to "keep the practice confidential." Yet there's nothing in any of the "revelations" about it saying it had to be kept confidential (of course).

I'm seriously amazed more TBMs don't read this stuff and just walk out. Seriously. Sigh.

They are trying to parse the words like lawyers, and to define adultery and "spiritual wifery" as something different from what Joe was doing for god. So therefore, he did not lie when he denied more wives and adulteries. His sealings just didn't fit those definitions.

Lying for the lord gets a pass.

I have one word to add to Void K. Packer's statement.

Lying for the lord gets a biggggggg pass.

And, I do not believe I'm being over dramatic on this one.

Ole lazy Joe really out did himself with this lie. He went on and on in a grandiose manner saying how innocent he was with only one wife and that people dared to accuse him of having seven. He could say this because he didn't have seven, he had many more than seven.....so see, he was not a liar.

That's how a con-man works his mark.

Yes how appropriate !! and later continued with John Taylors lies when debating in Europe together with a blatantly fraudulent lying D&C 101:4 at the time. Absolutely horrendous.

He even printed his lies for LDS and public consumption. Three Nights Public Discussion.
