"Have you asked the golden question today?"

In the spirit of anti-missionary work, it would be great if we could all ask at least one TBM "the golden question" today:

"What do you think about the new church essay on the multiple wives of Joseph Smith?"

Also, be sure to mention some other unsavory facts about Joseph Smith's practice of polygamy:

1. Joseph Smith mothers and their daughters concurrently. In other words, mother and daughter shared the same husband -- Joseph Smith. Is that disgusting or what?

2. Joseph married at least two sets of sisters. Sounds like a porn film, doesn't it?

3. Joseph dangled the carrot of salvation for the girls and their families if they would marry him. Talk about child abuse!

I asked one of my TBM facebook friends that.

"What essay?" Was the reply. "I don't look at anti-mormon stuff."

"It's on the lds.org website," I say. "Not anti-mormon at all."

(while we're chatting online, he goes to lds.org and searches "joseph smith essay polygamy" and gets no results)

"You're making that up," he says. "There's no such essay there."

I give him the link.

"How do I know that's really lds.org, and not some spoofed anti-mormon site?" he asks.

I give up.

When you asked "Have you asked the golden question today?", I immediately thought in terms of McDonalds counter people asking the golden question "Would you like fries with that?"


Oh, how wonderful it is to live well outside the morridor, where answering the "golden question" in the affirmative will just cost you a buck or two, and maybe another pound on the scale...

Which of all the new LDS approved official essays on LDS. org is your FAVORITE?

Most TBMs do not know they exist. This ? opens up the discussion.
