In reading this little tome at google books online, today it occurs to me that while the person writing it may have thought they were telling only the good side of Mormonism, they in fact were giving away quite a bit that was not very good about it, at all. Is this source or the sources this was based on/compiled from, credible?

Origins of general conference being business/trade related and decidedly not spiritual or religious at all; United Order and its problems, plus Brigham Young's refusal to participate in it at the same time he exhorted all other saints to do so; talking about secret membership rolls of anti-Mormons and the saints having to live with the idea that they had no idea how many people belonged, whether 100 or 3000; discussion of The Forbidden Zone, The Soiled Doves, etc.

I went looking for the Dickens and Mormons passages and found this, too.
